I am inspired

I saw this lady, Heather Armstrong, on Northwest AM this morning, or is it Good Morning AM Northwest? I don't really know what it is called and I don't care. I usually do not even watch that morning show because the man & lady duo on that show annoy the piss out of me.
But I was waking up late, my remote arm was tucked snugly under my lazy slab and my left arm was nestled against my cheek. I lay there, watching the t.v., completely annoyed at the pasty guy talking about how boring his vacation getaway was and listening to him whine and belittle his wife on national television. He looked like a real prize to me. I hope his wife rips him a new one later. I bet she doesn't even watch his morning show anymore. If I were his wife, I would not be proud of his show, I would be disgusted. He was not "morning quirky" or perky at all. What a drag.
Anyway, I stayed tuned because it caught my ear that they had a guest speaker coming up. A lady that checked herself in to a mental hospital after her daughter was 18 months. Raising my daughter all alone since I was pregnant, I had many insane moments. I had to stay tuned to hear this lady's story.
Turns out, she is in town for her book-signing, 'It sucked and then I cried.' After watching her spot on t.v., I checked out her website dooce.com. Reading her blog, I am refreshed at her candid writing style. She admits she let it all hang out more, but took down some archive posts about family and a little talk with herself about boundaries.
Browsing her FAQ section, I found this:
"I'm surprised you haven't been reported to child welfare with how public you are about some of the things you think and do regarding your daughter. Paper towels are very dangerous for your daughter to chew on. She could suffocate. Don't let her be alone with them. I'm amazed at how foolish you can be sometimes.
When you call DCFS, please get the story straight. Not only do I leave her alone with paper towels, I set her in the middle of a flea-infested floor and surround her with sharp objects and porn. Then I turn on a wood-burning stove in the corner of the room and seal all the windows. Before I leave the room and lock the door, I stick a bottle full of vodka in her mouth to muffle the screaming."
She has been writing her blog since 2001 and must have pretty good readership now, because she has some advertising on her site, she has another site momversation.com and she mentioned on this morning's show that her blog pays the bills. So, that inspires me to keep up with my blog. I am only about a year into it. Just recently I had been second guessing myself about the whole blog experience and my personal direction within my blogs. But reading her blogs, you can tell she is just being herself. And that is all I can be, myself. She has two books published already. That idea has been in the back of my mind and I think today it is time to bring my book idea to the forefront.
I just joined momversation.com. I am looking forward to new friends and 'mom connections.'
