My daughter and I were just BANNED from the NowLive Radio show from the premier of the Hancock Movie - for I think no good reason! Now I am just venting.

The host - "Hurry Up and Get Your Questions in, and we'll run them by Charlize." I was hoping Charlize could just say a quick "Hi" to my daughter, so I put our request in a few times and someone by the chatname mahlay(?) BANNED ME and said, "don't spam" wtf?

My daughter met Charlize Theron less than a year ago. She is HEARTBROKEN that JUST BEFORE her request was (hopefully) going to be read to Charlize, someone BANNED US.
HOW RUDE to kick us off that opportunity to JOIN IN THE FUN!

This lady is getting a good laugh from the site approaching her. Ladies, do you like your man in tight pants as these? What's in the bag-o-tricks and what store did he exit just around the corner?
This is a good one for a caption contest.

No mention yet of the beautiful model's suicide on PerezHilton.com, more...I suppose because it is not easily made fun of with an mspaint-penis drawn ouzing over her face. Maybe then Perez would truly have a massive heart attack and drop dead in his tracks, but something tells me he has yet far worse still lurking up his sleeve.
His latest stories posted include a tribute to Gay Pride, making fun of Sienna Miller apparently being a slut with 3 men and stating Amy Winehouse will F* your shiz up. Yes, his vulgarity and popularity are growing and we're stuck with him for a very long time.
Unlike the beautiful young model, who's life was cut short in an apparent suicide leap off a building in NYC. I don't know, maybe she was vulgar and spewed nasty gossip and drew funny little phalic sketches across her famous friend's faces in her spare time, but her emotion-driven poems reveal a more loving side, albeit heavy and dramatic.
"Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably," the sandy-haired knockout wrote in a poem that concluded: "And never regret anything that made you smile."

An email from Bill Gates

Subject: Windows Usability Systematic degradation flame

I am quite disappointed at how Windows Usability has been going backwards and the program management groups don't drive usability issues.

Let me give you my experience from yesterday.

I decided to download (Moviemaker) and buy the Digital Plus pack ... so I went to Microsoft.com. They have a download place so I went there.

The first 5 times I used the site it timed out while trying to bring up the download page. Then after an 8 second delay I got it to come up.

This site is so slow it is unusable.

It wasn't in the top 5 so I expanded the other 45.

These 45 names are totally confusing. These names make stuff like: C:\Documents and Settings\billg\My Documents\My Pictures seem clear.

They are not filtered by the system ... and so many of the things are strange.

I tried scoping to Media stuff. Still no moviemaker. I typed in movie. Nothing. I typed in movie maker. Nothing.

So I gave up and sent mail to Amir saying - where is this Moviemaker download? Does it exist?

So they told me that using the download page to download something was not something they anticipated.

They told me to go to the main page search button and type movie maker (not moviemaker!).

I tried that. The site was pathetically slow but after 6 seconds of waiting up it came.

I thought for sure now I would see a button to just go do the download.

In fact it is more like a puzzle that you get to solve. It told me to go to Windows Update and do a bunch of incantations.

This struck me as completely odd. Why should I have to go somewhere else and do a scan to download moviemaker?

So I went to Windows update. Windows Update decides I need to download a bunch of controls. (Not) just once but multiple times where I get to see weird dialog boxes.

Doesn't Windows update know some key to talk to Windows?

Then I did the scan. This took quite some time and I was told it was critical for me to download 17megs of stuff.

This is after I was told we were doing delta patches to things but instead just to get 6 things that are labeled in the SCARIEST possible way I had to download 17meg.

So I did the download. That part was fast. Then it wanted to do an install. This took 6 minutes and the machine was so slow I couldn't use it for anything else during this time.

What the heck is going on during those 6 minutes? That is crazy. This is after the download was finished.

Then it told me to reboot my machine. Why should I do that? I reboot every night -- why should I reboot at that time?

So I did the reboot because it INSISTED on it. Of course that meant completely getting rid of all my Outlook state.

So I got back up and running and went to Windows Update again. I forgot why I was in Windows Update at all since all I wanted was to get Moviemaker.

So I went back to Microsoft.com and looked at the instructions. I have to click on a folder called WindowsXP. Why should I do that? Windows Update knows I am on Windows XP.

What does it mean to have to click on that folder? So I get a bunch of confusing stuff but sure enough one of them is Moviemaker.

So I do the download. The download is fast but the Install takes many minutes. Amazing how slow this thing is.

At some point I get told I need to go get Windows Media Series 9 to download.

So I decide I will go do that. This time I get dialogs saying things like "Open" or "Save". No guidance in the instructions which to do. I have no clue which to do.

The download is fast and the install takes 7 minutes for this thing.

So now I think I am going to have Moviemaker. I go to my add/remove programs place to make sure it is there.

It is not there.

What is there? The following garbage is there. Microsoft Autoupdate Exclusive test package, Microsoft Autoupdate Reboot test package, Microsoft Autoupdate testpackage1. Microsoft AUtoupdate testpackage2, Microsoft Autoupdate Test package3.

Someone decided to trash the one part of Windows that was usable? The file system is no longer usable. The registry is not usable. This program listing was one sane place but now it is all crapped up.

But that is just the start of the crap. Later I have listed things like Windows XP Hotfix see Q329048 for more information. What is Q329048? Why are these series of patches listed here? Some of the patches just things like Q810655 instead of saying see Q329048 for more information.

What an absolute mess.

Moviemaker is just not there at all.

So I give up on Moviemaker and decide to download the Digital Plus Package.

I get told I need to go enter a bunch of information about myself.

I enter it all in and because it decides I have mistyped something I have to try again. Of course it has cleared out most of what I typed.

I try (typing) the right stuff in 5 times and it just keeps clearing things out for me to type them in again.

So after more than an hour of craziness and making my programs list garbage and being scared and seeing that Microsoft.com is a terrible website I haven't run Moviemaker and I haven't got the plus package.

The lack of attention to usability represented by these experiences blows my mind. I thought we had reached a low with Windows Network places or the messages I get when I try to use 802.11. (don't you just love that root certificate message?)

When I really get to use the stuff I am sure I will have more feedback.

~ ~ ~

As for the message, Gates smiled and said, "There's not a day that I don't send a piece of e-mail ... like that piece of e-mail. That's my job." Dave Ross of KIRO-AM/710 in Seattle did a dramatic reading of the message on air Wednesday morning. Click here to access the audio.

An alarming articlle from Consumerist.com bringing awareness to the shady dealings of Ticketsmyway.com. If you have purchased tickets on-line with them, you had better get on the offense quick, before you have to get on the defense in court with Ticketsmyway.com.

[consumerist.com]A reader sent in the following tip about a Vegas-based ticket broker:

There is a company by the name of Ticketsmyway.com (Event Tickets LLC) that has the scam of the century running. Their operations run like this.
  • Advertise tickets slightly cheaper than Stubhub and other sites.
  • Consumers place an order online for tickets often months in advance
  • Credit cards are charged full amount immediately
  • Customers are told to check status of order online
  • Orders always show as "processing"
  • As date of event gets closer, customer starts calling to find out Status of shipping
  • 1-2 days before event, customer are told tickets are "no longer available"
  • Phone rep says a refund can only be requested online
  • Terms of Use online say any refund request is considered a "cancellation" and customer is charged 45% of the purchase price

Even though company cannot produce tickets, customers lose 45% of their entire purchase price.

Have you watched the new A&E series, "Psychic Kids"? I'm digging it! It's on Monday nights at 10 on A&E. Or, check out their website on the "Psychic Kids" link for more info, video clips, schedule, meet the host and more. I am happy to be able to watch a series like this after all these years.

I have had many experiences throughout my life and when I first brought an experience to my mom, she refused to listen to me, let alone believe me. I knew never to talk to her about such things again. There have been very few that I have shared my stories with.

WebSites that Earn

Funny how the Laws of Attraction work.

I was just working on organizing my list of all the different sites I am involved in to blog about what I do day-to-day, ultimately, to help others

in their search for work-from-home ventures too. This morning I get an email from an on-line friend asking me for more ways to make money.
Ta-Da!

I have separated my list into two categories; Money Makers and Traffic Lists. Both categories are money makers, but one list is a handful of sites that give you your own WebSite money maker and the others are a list of Traffic Exchange and Surf PTC (paid to click) sites that give you cash or credit for payout or earned advertising (so you can post your money maker websites.)

I am possitive you will find all of these useful and fruitful. There are so many more to join, but it can get overwhelming and then undermine your efforts if you are trying to focus in too many different directions. You do have to put some time and effort into each venture, nearly daily, to keep your status active and for your work to Pay Off For You!
Here, (in no particular order) I offer only the sites that I have found valuable and credible so far. There is no get rich quick - even tho that is still being promised all over the internet.
(I am going to post the Traffic List in a separate blog entry)

For her first day of summer vacation, my daughter and I spent some time walking about the bayfront, Newport, Oregon.
It's a must to stop and visit the local Sea Lions. Awww, here's one with something caught around it's neck. I have heard of this over the years, but this was our first account seeing it first hand.

Photobucket

Or, maybe this is the wildlife version of gastric bypass. They look so cute n cuddly, I should have sent my daughter down to wriggle it off it's neck.
"It's ok, hun, their bark is worse than their bite."

Photobucket

Here is another shot, from the same vantage point. The Sea Lions are just below us, over the railing (that you can't see anyway :-)
Newport is a pretty little coastal town, central Oregon coast. We live just about 7 miles from Newport.
That is the Yaquina Bay Bridge. To the left is southbound highway 101 to Waldport and beyond. To the right is midtown Newport, Depoe Bay, Lincoln City and beyond . . . .

I love the Spring and Summers here, but that's IT. Fall and Winter bites. After my daughter is done with OSU, in about 10years, we are moving back to California. Lordy, I never thought I'd actually state for the record that I am actually going to move back to cali. Ok, I am giving Oregon another 10years. Maybe that global warming thing will actually kick-in, ha ha.

Do You Love to Blog?

Do you love to blog? I do. I have not blogged enough lately, but that is about to change, big time!

A lot of the activities I like to do on-line everyday have some stream of income, some investment, some value; and I need to tap into that.

I am as p'd off as everyone else about the gas gouging cutting into our lifestyle so much that, basically, we don't have much of a life lately. Anytime I think of what we should do over the weekend to get away, first thing that comes to mind, "Oh, wait, the gas." Then I mentally calculate how much it would cost me in gas round-trip just to live a little!

Even during the week, there are no more quick trips to the store or running a simple errand. Everything has to be planned out and coordinated to get the most bang for my buck. Well, I think we're all getting banged right up the patootie. Have you checked out where are gas-gouging is going?

So, I sat down and did a quick search on how to make some extra cash from home. Uhg - there are a gazillion hits on how-to make millions working from home - doing that already and haven't found my millions yet :-). I don't want another work-from-home gimmick, I want the real deal.

So, I turn to the success stories, the stuff I paruse everyday, and it's working for them. Sites like PerezHilton.com. That dude is making mint off his blog, simple blog! Ya, it's trashy but it's fun and it's working for him.

It's not the trash strategy I want to tap into, it's the idea. I have a blog and I have a webcam. It's time to make it work for me!

I fine tuned my search specifically to "how to make money with my webcam and blog" and voila:

From Foxnews.com
ROME — A deer with a single horn in the center of its head — much like the fabled, mythical unicorn — has been spotted in a nature preserve in Italy, park officials said Wednesday.

"This is fantasy becoming reality," Gilberto Tozzi, director of the Center of Natural Sciences in Prato, told The Associated Press. "The unicorn has always been a mythological animal."

The 1-year-old Roe Deer — nicknamed "Unicorn" — was born in captivity in the research center's park in the Tuscan town of Prato, near Florence, Tozzi said.

He is believed to have been born with a genetic flaw; his twin has two

Calling it the first time he has seen such a case, Tozzi said such anomalies among deer may have inspired the myth of the unicorn.

The unicorn, a horse-like creature with magical healing powers, has appeared in legends and stories throughout history, from ancient and medieval texts to the adventures of Harry Potter.

"This shows that even in past times, there could have been animals with this anomaly," he said by telephone. "It's not like they dreamed it up."

Single-horned deer are rare but not unheard of — but even more unusual is the central positioning of the horn, experts said.

"Generally, the horn is on one side (of the head) rather than being at the center. This looks like a complex case," said Fulvio Fraticelli, scientific director of Rome's zoo. He said the position of the horn could also be the result of a trauma early in the animal's life.

Other mammals are believed to contribute to the myth of the unicorn, including the narwhal, a whale with a long, spiraling tusk.

Airport

Here is another interesting write-up from one of my favorite informative websites, Consumerist.com

The TSA recently announced that
airport security scanners which can see under clothing are being installed at 10 U.S. airports, according to the AFP. Travelers will enter glass booths while a 3-dimensional full-body image is rendered using "millimeter waves." Because the image gives a clear representation of travelers' bodies and genitalia, it has some people concerned about their privacy. More, inside...

The article says,

While it allows the security screeners — looking at the images in a separate room — to clearly see the passenger's sexual organs as well as other details of their bodies, the passenger's face is blurred, TSA said in a statement on its website.

The scan only takes seconds and is to replace the physical pat-downs of people that is currently widespread in airports.

TSA began introducing the body scanners in airports in April, first in the Phoenix, Arizona terminal.

The installation is picking up this month, with machines in place or planned for airports in Washington (Reagan National and Baltimore-Washington International), Dallas, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Miami and Detroit.

But the new machines have provoked worries among passengers and rights activists.

"People have no idea how graphic the images are," Barry Steinhardt, director of the technology and liberty program at the American Civil Liberties Union, told AFP.

The ACLU said in a statement that passengers expecting privacy underneath their clothing "should not be required to display highly personal details of their bodies such as evidence of mastectomies, colostomy appliances, penile implants, catheter tubes and the size of their breasts or genitals as a pre-requisite to boarding a plane."

Besides masking their faces, the TSA says on its website, the images made "will not be printed stored or transmitted."

"Once the transportation security officer has viewed the image and resolved anomalies, the image is erased from the screen permanently. The officer is unable to print, export, store or transmit the image."

Lara Uselding, a TSA spokeswoman, added that passengers are not obliged to accept the new machines.

"The passengers can choose between the body imaging and the pat-down," she told AFP.

Even if we trust the TSA to blur the faces of travelers and properly dispose of the naked images, and we don't, we believe the TSA has reached yet another milestone in violating our privacy. We appreciate the fact that the TSA is allowing us to choose between the full-body-scan and a pat-down, as if giving us some choice absolves them from any criticism. So which would you prefer, being groped by the TSA or letting them take your naked picture?
