OUCH
Ok, so I finally got myself adjusted today and I am so amazed! I had no idea we are supposed to feel this good. I have been living in a dull pain for years just thinking, "Well that's just part of getting older." And, I have been doing everything on my own for 12 years, so I knew I carried the extra load, but I just "do what I gotta do" to get by, ya know?

I just started this new office job, along with my home businesses of AVON Independent Sales Rep. and AtHome America home decor. Now I am the Receptionist at a Chiropractors' office. During the interview it was asked and I had mentioned I had only been to a Chiropractor once ever before, about 10years ago, and it was not a good experience so I have never done it again.
Not necessarily purposely avoiding it, but getting adjusted was just not something I thought of doing or needing.

Over the years of accumulated bad slips here and there and having to do all the chores; loading and hauling to the dump, loading and unloading bales of hay, bags of grain, scooping and wheel burrowing heavy loads of manure from the stalls.......ya, I've had my share of aches and pains but I have gotten used to it.

Just so happens, right after I started my new job, my headaches were coming on strong, then stronger, then stronger than usual, then new symptoms in my lower back that I had never experienced before.
I thought it may be psychosomatic due to seeing so many happy patients in our office and coming back for more and referring their friends, I thought I was dreaming up more pain just to get myself worked on, wanting to see what all the JOY was about.

Then just about everyone in the office came down with the icky cold, so I chalked up my headaches to sinus pressure. Well, then over the weekend my lower back took a turn for the worse and pain was shooting down through my hips and down the backs of my thighs and my legs were in such terrible charlie horses I could not sleep. Come Monday, I talked about it with one of the Doctors, but I put it off to put the patients' time first and for other various reasons, I was not ready to get adjusted.
Tuesday came and went with worse pain and terrible headaches all day at work, but I just kept up my front of Miss Cheery Receptionist. I am good at that because I have been used to my dull chronic pain for years, but I knew something was different this time and getting worse.

Then Wednesday morning before work I had to unload some more hay and 50lb bags of grain.
I was running late, well, on time, but I like to arrive a little early so I was rushing. I should have slowed down, but I really wanted to get to work because I knew the Doctors' schedules were slammed that day and I wanted extra time to be sure patients' files etc. were well prepared and we were ready to hit the ground running.
I rushed, I unloaded, I hauled that hay and bags of grain in the barn, then WHAMMO!
I hopped up in my car and my back screamed and cursed me out and my head felt like it was going to explode right off my shoulders. What's that movie? Running man?

We got so busy at work, I had no time to think about my screaming shooting pain. But by about 5ish, I had all I could fake. My boss was trying to talk to me about something, I still don't know what, and I had to interrupt her, "I am sorry if I seem distracted, I just have such a headache and my back hurts and I can't even think straight." She offered to adjust me right there and I jumped on that.

She started feeling around, whatever Chiropractors do, then when she got to my upper back, shoulders and neck area she said, "Oh Wow, you must be MIIISSSERABLE!" I asked her what she found and she pointed/poked on something and said my first rib was out. That was my first amazement, that through tensed up muscle she knew exactly what she felt - well, duh, that's what all the training is for and she has been doing this about 30odd years!

The Doctor told me it was pretty intense and my muscles were so knotted up and who knows how long my first rib has been out, but she warned me it would hurt but she had to adjust. As she was talking to me and explaining to me what she would do, she (must have) purposely not told me exactly when it would happen (like a 1,2,3) because the sneaky Doctor just twisted my head one way and pushed on my first rib and POPBANG! It hurt like a MUTHUH and I screamed, but then INSTANTLY my headache was gone and she asked, "Do you feel that circulation?" I felt an amazing RUSH, and she said that was my blood finally now circulating properly to my head.
I never knew it was supposed to feel that good!

That rib must have been out for years because for HOURS after that adjustment now, I have not felt this good in I don't know how long. I am so impressed and have a new respect for Chiropractors! After that adjustment, she found some other areas to work on, obviously my lower back is still a problem and she found that my left pelvis is out of alignment and my sacrum(tail bone?) is out. But, alas, we had more patients coming and she, we, really just wanted a quickie to get rid of my headache, but we both were happy to find that amazing spot that I needed to fix me up. My head feels so much better that my lower back is tolerable. I am sure looking forward to my next fix!
